Generally, people rush to the doctor if they experience the symptoms of a medical condition, but the same is not true for dental problems. The reason is that most people are afraid of visiting the dentist and this keeps them from seeking the care they could use. While the usual gum bleed might be caused by your toothbrush, there are some symptoms of dental issues you should never ignore. Let’s look at a few of them:
Table of Contents
1.Bleeding Gums
Unless you are absolutely sure your bleeding gums haven’t been caused by your brush pressing too hard against them while you were brushing, bleeding gums are a red flag. The fact is your gums shouldn’t bleed. If you have adequate dental hygiene, your gums shouldn’t bleed. But if they are, it could be a sign of gingivitis or periodontitis, both of which are extremely discomforting.
2.Crooked Teeth
If your teeth are crooked, it is likely that food gets lodged between them. Despite your best efforts to floss and brush your teeth, there is a chance some debris remains lodged and over time leads to plaque and bacteria buildup. This can cause all sorts of dental issues.
3.Popping/Clicking Jaw
If your jaw makes a popping or clicking sound when you are speaking or chewing, it could indicate Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ). Over time, this condition only worsens, which is why you should visit a dentist as soon as you experience this symptom.
4.Bad Breath
Bad breath despite regular brushing and flossing on a daily basis can indicate a major health problem, i.e. diabetes or kidney disorder. To be on the safe side, it is best to use a tongue scraper to keep your tongue clean as well. If the bad breath persists, go and see a doctor right away.
These are some symptoms of dental issues you should never ignore. Some others you should watch out for is sudden tooth sensitivity, tooth pain, and even snoring. Go see a dentist if you experience any of these. Don’t delay it or the problem could exacerbate.
